Kansas Media Rankings September 29, 2015

ScottCommFoundationlogo

This week we put in the rankings how many number one votes were received for each team in each classification. As you can tell 8-man I is a real dog fight. With three teams receiving the first place vote. The other classifications we think we have a good handle on what is going on. Come playoff time the ranking team just might be proven wrong and that is okay by me. Some teams may use this ranking system as ammunition in the locker room and that is perfectly fine with me. What ever it takes to get the players motivated to focus on the Friday night game.

We had some movement this week in some of the classifications.

Let the shake up begin in the rankings. We had a little movement in some of the rankings this past weekend. There will be more before the season is over. Shawnee Mission East has the biggest bulls eye on their backs at the moment. Everyone likes the Lancers as the top team in Kansas.

You don’t have to go back to many years and Shawnee Mission East is losing more than they were winning each and every year. Things change and now the Lancers are thought of as the top team in Kansas. That should give hope to each and every football team in the state. Yes, it can be done. We can turn around our own program with work, sweat and more importantly the thought that it can be done. But with the turn around comes responsibility and opportunity.

Each succeeding class that comes after the start of the turn around must continue the work hard philosophy, as the preceding classes graduate. You can not rest on the laurels of those previous classes, and with that work comes the opportunity to have new success.

So keep working at this marvelous game called football is my advice for all the teams in the state. Don’t you ever surrender, mentally or physically, on Friday night until the final whistle blows. Then go back to the weight room or practice field and work at it some more.

There was not much movement in the rankings this week. One thing we added to the rankings, this week is, how much the second ranked team trails the first place team in each classification. The closer in points that the second team is tells you how undecided the ranking team is with their polls. As you can tell Shawnee Mission East and Rossville have a good grip on their positions at number one but the pollsters aren’t sure who should be number two through five.

Class 4A D-II and 8-man D-I are where the pollsters are not quite sure who should be number one just yet.

Class 4A D-I is the perfect poll because every person on the ranking team had Bishop Miege as first and Buhler ranked second.

Let us remember these polls are for throwing darts at or cussing and discussing. The real polls will happen on the field once the playoffs start.

As always, the actual ranking team is at the finish of this article. Thank them if you know them. It is quite the homework assignment to try and figure out, in an honest fashion, who should be in these rankings.

Kansas Media Rankings Sept. 7, 2015

KansasMediaRankingPicture

The first of the season rankings are finally out. Not many surprises. The Kansas Media Team is listed at the bottom of this article and I can’t thank these guys and gals enough. If you as a newspaper or radio station or television station or website would like to use our rankings please feel free to do so. The only thing we ask is that you credit www.kansasprepfootball.com.

The rankings are the best thing we do at www.kansasprepfootball.com. We take all the team members thoughts and put them in to one ranking. We get rid of our regional bias by mixing together our thoughts. Everyone on the ranking team likes to put in the teams they follow because those are the teams they see week in and week out.

Remember, that to be listed in the others category you must be listed by at least two of the ranking team members. That goes for the Super 10 and the top five of each classification. Remember also that the Super 10 and the top five of each classification are two totally separate polls.

We wish each team the best for the season and you and I both know there is some team out there right now, that is not in the rankings today, that by seasons end will be in these rankings because they will be the surprise team of the season. The only question is who is it going to be???
