Button Batteries can Kill
I am an EMT and have been involved in EMS for over 30 years and just today watched a video during an EMS class for CEU’s and wanted to share this video. Keep your kids safe. These things are very dangerous.
New Head Football Coaches for 2023
New head football coaches for 2023 got started early. We have one on our list as of now. If you know of any head coaching changes (which normally happens from December through next June) let us know. We like to have confirmation such as a twitter post, newspaper article, radio article or from the coach or athletic director themselves letting us know of the new job oppertunity.
New FB Coaches
This has been a year of big changes, when it comes to Head Football Coaches, at the high school level, in the state of Kansas. Kansas had 71 new head football coaches named this summer. Below is a look at the numbers, over the past few years of new head coaches named in football.
2022 71
2021 64
2020 50
2019 72
2018 72
There are 334 high schools listed in the KSHSAA Football Classifications and Enrollment numbers for 2022-2023. The biggest school is Wichita East with 1,832 students and the smallest school listed is Rolla with 23 kids in school. Take the number 71 and divide by 334 and we have 21% of the schools with new coaches this year.
If you take the years 2018-2022 and total the number of new head coaches you come up with 329 schools. So about every 5 years we replace the entire bunch of head coaches in the state. Although we know that is not the case because we have some of the coaches stay in the same place for years. But what that means is some of the schools are replacing their coaches every two or three years.
That is kind of eye opening. Several years ago, I had a coach who sent me a list, of every football coach the school he was coaching at, had every had. And the years they were the head football coach. The list had about 95 years worth of coaches on it. The average stay at that 3A school, at that time, was 2 years.
Hey you young guys that want to grow up to be football coaches. Grow some thick skin and be mentally tough also. If you are in high school or college start coaching and refereeing in the city/county recreation leagues so you can start working with kids and their Moms and Dads. My other suggestion is study, take notes, read books and work hard at your profession and be ready when the opportunity to be a head football coach comes along.

Friends
We didn’t know each other when we arrived at this summer camp in eastern Kansas, but we three become friends over night during our sophomore year of high school. We did everything together at the camp.
One night one of our threesome did something he should not have done. After he did what he did we all went back to our tent and went to bed. A couple hours later after the dozen boys in our old army barracks tent were all asleep the leaders of the camp were banging on our door. They were screaming the threesomes friends last names and demanding we come outside the tent immediately.
It was a hot summer night and all we had on was our underwear and we were sleeping on top of our cots. We three jumped up and ran outside. We were told to line up and stand at attention. The leaders then started asking us which one of us three had done the terrible deed? None of us said anything.
The leaders then started yelling in our faces, telling us what they were going to do to all three of us if we didn’t tell on the one that did the terrible deed. We refused to talk. We were friends and we were all going to go down together, if those leaders couldn’t figure out which one of us was guilty.
The Bible has many thoughts on friends and what we should do. Be wise this summer.
Proverbs 12:26 The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend is always loyal and a brother is born to help in time of need.
Proverbs 18:24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 22:24-25 Do not be a friend of one who has a bad temper and never keep company with a hothead or you will learn his ways and set a trap for yourself.
